Mar 20, 2020 The Watchtower Organization is false and what the Jehovah's Witnesses have been taught to believe about Jesus is unbiblical, heretical, and false! Quotes on Jesus from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society

The Jehovah's Witness organization, also known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, has a lot to say about Jesus. But, the organization is not Christian, and its teachings reflect many false doctrines. For example, they deny the deity of Christ, his physical resurrection, his mediatorship for all Christians.

The following quotes are arranged so that you can copy and paste the entire paragraph. The goal is to provide you with information so that when discussing things with Jehovah's Witnesses and other people, you can document the various false teachings of the Jehovah's Witness organization which is also known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

  1. Jesus is not God
    1. 'The Scriptures therefore show that Jesus is not God Almighty. Instead, he is God's Son.' (Watchtower 9/15/2005, p. 7 Who Is Jesus Christ?)
    2. 'For these and many other very cogent reasons, true Christians maintain that Jesus is not God, but, rather, his Son, and therefore that Mary is not the 'Mother of God.' (Awake 4/22/1983, p. 24 Does God Have a Mother?)
    3. 'Jehovah is the Supreme One. Jesus is, not God, but 'the Son of God.' (Road to Life, part 8 p. 25, Reject False Religion; Practice True Religion)
  2. Jesus is God's first creation
    1. 'Unlike any other human, Jesus lived in heaven as a spirit person before he was born on earth. (John 8:23) He was God's first creation, and he helped in the creation of all other things. He is the only one created directly by Jehovah and is thus called God's 'only-begotten' Son. Jesus served as God's Spokesman, so he is also called 'the Word.' (Watchtower 3/1/2011, p. 16 Who Is Jesus Christ?)
  3. Jesus is a created being
    1. 'Jesus Christ He is the Savior, 'the Son of God,' and 'the firstborn of all creation.' (John 1:34; Colossians 1:15; Acts 5:31) As a created being, he is not part of a Trinity.' (Awake 8/10/2010, p. 8, What Do Jehovah's Witnesses Believe?; jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g201008/what-do-jehovahs-witnesses-believe)
  4. Jesus was a spirit creature
    1. 'As God's firstborn Son, Jesus was a spirit creature in heaven before he was born as a human on earth.' (jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20110401/jesus-where-he-came-from/)
  5. Son of God means Jesus was a separate created being
    1. 'Hence, the phrase 'Son of God' refers to Jesus as a separate created being, not as part of a Trinity. As the Son of God, he could not be God himself, for John 1:18 says: 'No one has ever seen God.' (Should You Believe in The Trinity? p. 16)
  6. Jesus is Michael
    1. 'In view of the foregoing, what can we conclude? Jesus Christ is Michael the archangel. Both names—Michael (meaning 'Who Is Like God?') and Jesus (meaning 'Jehovah Is Salvation')—focus attention on his role as the leading advocate of God's sovereignty.' (Watchtower 4/1/2010, p. 19 Is Jesus the Archangel Michael?)
  7. The Father is superior to Jesus
    1. 'The Father's superiority over the Son, as well as the fact that the Father is a separate person, is highlighted also in the prayers of Jesus, such as the one before his execution: 'Father, if you wish, remove this cup [that is, an ignominious death] from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place.' (Luke 22:42) If God and Jesus are 'one in essence,' as the Trinity doctrine says, how could Jesus' will, or wish, seem different from that of his Father?' (Awake 4/22/2005, pp. 6-7 Who Is 'the Only True God'?)
  8. Jesus was born of a virgin
    1. '…Jehovah performed a miracle. He transferred the life of his firstborn Son from heaven to the womb of a Jewish virgin named Mary. No human father was involved. Mary thus gave birth to a perfect son and named him Jesus.' (What Does the Bible Really Teach? chap. 4 p. 42 par. 14 Who Is Jesus Christ?)
  9. Jesus was only a perfect human
    1. 'Jesus, no more and no less than a perfect human, became a ransom that compensated exactly for what Adam lost – the right to perfect human life on earth.' (Should You Believe in The Trinity? p. 15)
  10. Jesus lived in heaven before being born on earth
    2. 'The Bible teaches that Jesus lived in heaven before he came to earth.' (What Does the Bible Really Teach? chap. 4 p. 41 par. 10 Who Is Jesus Christ?)
  11. Jesus is the mediator only for the 144,000, the anointed class
    1. 'Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members. This spiritual nation is like a little flock of Jehovah's sheeplike ones.' (Worldwide Security Under the Prince of Peace, chap. 1 pp. 10-11 par. 16 The Desire for Peace and Security Worldwide)
    2. 'So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the 'mediator' only for anointed Christians.' (Watchtower 4/1/1979, p. 31 Questions From Readers)
  12. Jesus was not born as the Christ
    1. 'The coming of the Christ, the one whom Jehovah would anoint with his spirit to be the Messianic King, had been foretold centuries before Jesus' birth. (Da 9:25, 26) However, at his birth, Jesus was not yet the Anointed One or Christ.' (Insight Vol. 1 p. 438 Christ)
  13. Jesus did not die on a cross
    1. 'true Christians do not use the cross in worship. Why not? An important reason is that Jesus Christ did not die on a cross.' (jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/cross-belief/)
  14. Jesus did not rise physically from the dead
    1. 'However, many persons believe that Christ took his fleshly body to heaven. They point to the fact that when Christ was raised from the dead, his fleshly body was no longer in the tomb. (Mark 16:5-7) Also, after his death Jesus appeared to his disciples in a fleshly body to show them that he was alive. Once He even had the apostle Thomas put his hand into the hole in His side so that Thomas would believe that He had actually been resurrected. (John 20:24-27) Does this not prove that Christ was raised alive in the same body in which he was put to death? 7 No, it does not. The Bible is very clear when it says: 'Christ died once for all time concerning sins . . . , he being put to death in the flesh, but being made alive in the spirit.' (Live Forever, chap. 17 pp. 143-144 pars. 6-7 Christ's Return—How Seen?)
    2. 'The physical body of Jesus Christ was not allowed to decay into dust as did the bodies of Moses and David, men who were used to foreshadow Christ. (De 34:5, 6; Ac 13:35, 36; 2:27, 31) When his disciples went to the tomb early on the first day of the week, Jesus' body had disappeared, and the bandages with which his body had been wrapped were left in the tomb, his body doubtless having been disintegrated without passing through the process of decaying.' (Insight Vol. 1 p. 349 Body)
    3. 'Jesus did not take back his fleshly body and thereby cancel out the ransom for which it was given. The apostle Peter testifies that Christ went into heaven, the realm of spirits, not flesh, 'he being put to death in the flesh, but being made alive in the spirit.' (1Pe 3:18) Before his ascension to heaven Christ, as a mighty, immortal spirit person, did materialize various fleshly bodies to suit the occasion, for the purpose of giving to his disciples visible, palpable evidence of his resurrection.' (Insight Vol. 1, p. 841 Flesh)
    4. 'Only God's action prevented the fleshly body of his Son's earthly existence from seeing corruption in the grave. (Ac 2:31; 13:35-37) That body, however, was not preserved for the use of the resurrected Jesus, since the apostle Peter states that Jesus was 'put to death in the flesh, but . . . made alive in the spirit.' (1Pe 3:18) It thus seems evident that God disposed of that body miraculously, thereby not letting it see ruinous decay.—See BODY (Christ's Body of Flesh).' (Insight Vol. 1, p. 1197 Incorruption)
    5. 'It follows that Christ could not take his body back again in the resurrection, thereby taking back the sacrifice offered to God for mankind.' (Insight Vol. 2, p. 786 Resurrection)
